The parade is Sunday, June 28th, launching at 11:00am at the corner of Union St. and 4th Avenue. It proceeds down 4th Avenue to Denny Way, ending at Westlake Park. (Across the street is the Westlake Center shopping mall, which is the southern terminus of the Seattle Center Monorail. Hop on the monorail afterwards and you can take it all the way north to the Seattle Center, where PrideFest will be held directly following the parade.)
PrideFest--the theme is “there are heroes among us”--is open from 11:30am-7pm, and includes DJs, performers, beer gardens, food, vendors and non-profit activism and fundraising. The Seattle Center is also home to Seattle landmarks like the Space Needle and the Experience Music Project; both are worth checking out for their unconventional architecture and exhibits. Be warned – a ride up the Space Needle after an afternoon in the beer garden could have disastrous results.
