Show Brazil! Productions and STG Presents Brazilian Carnaval 2013 at the Neptune in Seattle.
The Pacific Northwest, Brazilian Carnaval 2013 (Mardi Gras), is the nineteenth annual celebration of the biggest festival in the Brazilian calendar. This year’s theme “USA to Brazil” explores the shared influences between North American and Brazilian music, featuring Bahia-born, local favorite, Eduardo Mendonça and a host of talented musicians and dancers featuring spicy rhythms performed by the internationally acclaimed Show Brazil! band. The soul of the Brazilian Carnaval in a high energetic performance.
Special Guests:
Jeromeskee from Massive Monkeys, a B-Boy crew from Seattle, that won the 2004 World B-Boy Championships in London and appeared on season four of MTV's America’s Best Dance Crew. In 2012 they won the international b-boy competition R-16 Korea and thus became the first American crew to win in the history of the competition.
Barry Curtis: Joined Portland's Kingsmen to play Hammond organ and soon embarked on an extended U.S. tour to support the band's hit, "Louie Louie." Recording sessions in Seattle produced more chart records. Many other tours, recordings, TV appearances and a spot in the beach party movie, "How to Stuff a Wild Bikini" followed. They shared stages with nearly all the stars of the time.
Following the release of the movie, "Animal House" The Kingsmen reactivated in 1981 and finished the millennium performing throughout America. The Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) presented The Kingsmen with its 2005 Recording Academy Honor for the band's contributions to the recording industry.
