The 2014 Summit will focus on “re:shaping the Conversation”. With marriage equality in the State of Washington, the end of DOMA, and more and more State’s granting marriage equality, we are at a time in history like never before. Organizations must evolve to keep pace with changes affecting LGBT employees. Understanding how these changes impact their organizations is fundamental in maximizing employee engagement, attracting top talent, and realizing higher performance.
We invite LGBT professionals and straight allies to share innovative strategies to enhance workplace inclusion, visibility, and diversity. Attendees will participate in workshops and hear from business leaders who pioneered welcoming workplaces for diverse professionals.
Current key-note speakers are: Edward Murray, Mayor of Seattle, Rossann Williams, SVP and President of Starbucks Canada and Charlene Strong, Washington State Human Rights Commissioner and subject of the award-winning documentary “for my wife”. We have also sourced several workshops with corporations, non-profits and leaders from around the world. Some key workshop presenters include Christie Smith, Managing Principal for Inclusion at Deloitte, Blake Skjellerup, Olympic Speed Skater, Megan Rapinoe, Olympic Gold Medalist and member of Seattle Reign FC, Laura Harvey, Head Coach of Seattle Reign FC, and Kent Ferguson, US Olympic Diver and NCAA Champion, to name a few.
The Summit is an excellent opportunity for LGBT professionals, human resources and diversity and inclusion professionals, and employee resource group (ERG) leaders representing both LGBT and non-LGBT groups to:
• Obtain tools, information and best practices to impact their organizations
• Recharge their ERG's leadership and organizational influence
• Invest in their professional development
• Connect with other companies, ERGs and community organizations dedicated to advancing workplace equality
This year’s Summit is presented by corporate and non-profit sponsors from across the region that champion diverse and inclusive workforces. Please visit our website at www.outandequalseattle.org for speaker information, registration, and to see our workshop lineup.
