>› NOAH PRED - [ Thoughtless Music // Berlin ]
The entity known as Noah Pred arrived on Earth in the spring of 1979. Developing sonic skills through countless adventures between, this restless soul now finds himself based in the cultural nexus of modern Berlin.
Making the leap to Europe after five years fertilizing the extensive musical underground of Canada's multicultural metropolis, he comes deeply impacted by the unique influence of Toronto. Launching his Thoughtless imprint there over four years ago, the label is now well past its fiftieth release - Pred's acclaimed ERA ONE mix-CD - and has served to expose many potent talents from Canada and beyond.
Throwing the much-loved Thoughtless label parties was a natural evolution of numerous DJ residencies held by Pred in Vancouver, Montreal and in Toronto with the legendary Fukhouse crew. The past few years have seen Noah perform extensively throughout North America, delivering highly improvised sets that always strive to meet the moment head-on.
While past side projects have seen him working deep electro breaks and analog dub, contemporary strains of house and techno remain at the core of Pred's aesthetic. A versatile musician at heart (and a former bassist), his latest undercover experiments explore a futuristic interpretation of 2-step polyrhythms.
Recent releases on Cynosure, Regular and Siteholder have earned a renewed focus on his distinctive production style and extensive discography. 2012 looms large for Pred, with releases just out for Highgrade, Thoughtless, Trapez LTD and Cynosure - while his tireless approach keeps him forever on the edge.

>› J.ALVAREZ - [ Innerflight Music, Hypercolour, Touchin' Bass ]
Seattle resident by way of Miami. Audio mulcher of the electro sound.
You may know the man behind J.Alvarez—Seattle producer Chris Roman—from his prodigious, excellent electro recordings as 214. (If not, start making up for lost time, straggler.) Shifting gears under this new alias, Roman has proved himself to be equally adept in the steamy realm where techno and house intermingle and get it on—right on the freakin’ dance floor. Spin and Pick—his debut release for Innerflight—offers four tracks that function as both high-quality DJ tools and sumptuous headphone listening.
“Spin And Pick” kicks off the EP with a stark, funkiness that’s at once earthy and spacey. You can hear traces of Roman’s electro background in the stuttering cymbal taps, but the rhythm here hews closer to techno’s linear propulsion. The stoic bass line gives a heavy gravitational pull in contrast to the shimmering, Bernie Worrell-like synth squiggles and whorls whisking you toward the stars. Alvarezuses vocals (mostly mutters and whispers) as textural coloration and chilling undercurrent rather than as conveyors of specific words. “Watch Your Step” is galloping, momentous techno with huge, clap-enhanced beats and a suspenseful main melody redolent of Goblin’s most memorable horror-film soundtracks. The hard-driving rhythm, boosted with a prowling, growling bass line that could make a statue dance, makes this ideal peak-time business.
The urgent, shuttling techno of “Noon” launches you out of mundane reality, aided again by Alvarez’s phenomenal skill for creating bulbous, motivational bass lines. The record closes with “Come Back,” whose massive, sweeping clap-augmented beats bump against a rotund yet buoyant synth bass figure as a beautifully melancholy melody drones in the distance. Having established himself as one of America’s foremost exporters of electro, Roman’s alter ego J.Alvarezshows that he’s on the fast track to ascending to the techno stratosphere, too.

>› KADEEJAH STREETS - [ Innerflight Music ]
Night time.... is the right time.
Little known to many, long before the dirty womp infected his brain, it was Mr. Streets' introduction to - and love affair with - the disco sound that saved him from himself…
Following his tour of duty in Vietnam in the late 60's, Streets, disillusioned and alone, his Technicolor American dream shattered, drifted from city to city, making and breaking friendships in days over the most trivial matters such as, "Who the f$#@ got into my Choco Crunch!?" Eventually he made for the NYC where he found himself at home among the gay, black and Latino communities. It was here that he first encountered what was later to be popularly defined as 'disco.'
"I'll never forget it," he once said. "Had I not accepted my friend's invitation to check out this joint called the 'Paradise Garage,' my life wouldn't have been the same, man. That first night I felt like I was rising to a higher state of consciousness. We were all one." Mr. Streets has kept on rising ever since.

>› J-SUN - [ Innerflight Music ]
J-Sun (Jason Zucker) is one of the ringleaders of the Seattle electronic scene and has been involved in creating music as well as the community here for almost fifteen years. He is the founder of record label/DJ crew/party-makers Innerflight Music and as such has been responsible for the production of a ridiculous number of electronic events and the many smiles that accompany them.
As a DJ, J-Sun has accumulated a loyal following, enamored with his exuberant energy, deep crates, and heady get-down style. His potent programming and lucid mixology never fail to gather the rabble-rousers together to dance to his psychedelic underground house and techno sounds. Whether you find him spinning at a laser-drenched club in the city or outside in the forests of the beautiful Pacific Northwest, J-Sun is a bright-shining fixture on the region’s electronic music scene.
