Take your musicianship to the next level with this introductory class, focusing on the building blocks of the language of music. Studying music theory improves songwriting, increases the ability to express yourself in new and creative ways, makes learning new songs more efficient and less frustrating, and the list goes on!
This four week class is designed for musicians of all levels who have not received formal training in music theory or sight-reading.
Price: $150 (workbook included in price)
Prerequisites: At least one year of experience on any musical instrument or voice
Workbook: Music Theory 101 by Larry McCabe
Classes will cover the following topics:
Mon.10/12 - The Musical Staff Part 1
Mon.10/19 - The Musical Staff Part 2
Mon.10/26 - Scales and Chords Part 1
Mon.11/02 - Scales and Chords Part 2, Practical Uses For Music Theory
All classes with be from 7:30 - 8:30pm, with an open forum from 8:30 - 9:30pm. The open forum provides the opportunity for you to ask questions on class material or music theory topics not covered in class.
