Emerald City Black Pride is happening this weekend! The events for the weekend are part of an initiative to foster pride and strengthen the sense of community among LGBTQ people of color with a focus on African-Americans. It is a reflection and celebration of our diversity, voice and the values of our community.
The Emerald City Black Pride: Black Light Party, hosted at the Northwest African American Museum, will be a night of hip-hop and soul music, dancing and community performances to celebrate that we, as a community, continue to survive against all odds and our voice is growing! With music by Sable Ravish Dv (aka DJ Ravish), performances by La Saveona Hunt and others! Food served by Angel City Deli! Free wine and beer courtesy of Pike Brewing Company!
The next day we have the ECBP Family Reunion BBQ hosted at Alvin Larkins Park, will bring together all of our elders, children, friends, family and allies to celebrate what pride means to us all and hear from powerful community leaders, like Luzviminda Lulu Carpenter and Charhys Bailey along with performances from J Mase III, Donte Johnson and Regine Dynasty (Regine Dynasty St James Fan Page). https://www.facebook.com/events/1038134056266688/
While ECBP is focused on the African-American LGBTQ community we welcome and encourage other people of color and white allies to come and celebrate with us!!
If you can't make it out, please donate at www.gofund.me/ecbp2016. All proceeds will be used for general operation and development expenses needed to support future events like these in our community and promote the support of HIV education, testing and adherence in the African-American community.
