BLUE JAY Brings BACK the MOON: A Celebration of Native Culture

Blue Jay, Northwest Coast Salish tribes' trickster character, who through his antics brings us laughter, pranks, and yes, even lessons. In this traditional story from the Snoqualmie people, the cunning Blue Jay ventures out to bring Snoqual the Moon--the Transformer, who had been kidnapped by the Dog Salmon people and taken to the Sky world, back to Earth to help prepare for the humans to arrive. Join Na'ah Illahee Fund, a Seattle-based Native nonprofit organization as they fill the day with Northwest Native talent and community celebration. Noon to 6:00 Art Show & Market with top Native artists is free. Includes artists demonstrations and refreshments. The evening program, 6:00 - 8:30 PM, begins with a traditional meal of Indigenous foods of the Americas, followed by awarding of the Spirit of Indigenous Leadership award, 2016 Ahdanehi Women's Giving Circle grant awards, middle and high school girls of Native Girls Code, and the Yahowt Native Women's Permaculture Cohort's presentations of their design projects.
