DESCRIPTION: This training is funded in part with a grant from the Pride Foundation and is geared to the LGBTQ community, though allies are welcome to attend as well. It's designed to help people develop their own story (recovery, LGBTQ issues) to then get involved with policy advocacy and/or media issues. The grant and training is designed to address historic and current issues LGBTQ members are facing in the current political environment. That's the backdrop. There will be two mayoral and City Council forums coming up right after the training so an attendee could very well prepare their story/message for one or both of those forums. The candidate forums are being sponsored by local community LGBTQ organizations and they will announce them at the training on Saturday.
