DJ Explorateur
(Rare Air / False Prophet / TUF / Hollow Earth Radio)

Seattle’s DJ Explorateur (vinyl enthusiast Valerie Calano) has been a key figure in Seattle’s thriving fringe music scene as a DJ and curator. Her deep knowledge of psychedelia, electronic, new age, ambient music, funk, jazz, and other genres has led to gigs with a diverse list of major acts including Animal Collective, Faust, Floating Points, and Laurel Halo, as well as compiling playlists for Seattle’s Bumbershoot Festival. In 2013, directors of the EMP Pop Conference acknowledged Explorateur’s expertise by asking her to participate in a panel discussion about record collecting, and she was included in Eilon Paz’ 2014 book Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting. She was a co-producer of Hypnotikon Festival, and her affinity for blissfully curated selections is on full display at her night Rare Air, a unique and immersive ambient event at Q Nightclub featuring live music, DJs and visuals. She is also a member of the dark electronics collective False Prophet, resident DJ on Hollow Earth Radio’s Yonic Boom show, and a member of Seattle’s TUF collective. A seriously dedicated DJ, she is never not striving to increase her awareness—and procurement—of life-changing music.

Miss Shelrawka
(+PLUS Techno // o:BASS:ity)

Dave Segal writes: "...[Miss Shelrawka] brings an East Coast energy and grittiness to her techno and house mixes. They're also incredibly sexy, featuring much percolating hand percussion; swiveling, loin-engorging bass lines; cooing, groaning, and sighing vocals; and ass-smacking beats...-a low-slung, funky, tribal strain of minimal techno-with excellent aesthetics and technique...." - The Stranger, DATA BREAKER
