WHAT ELSE: Proceeds from this year’s SLU Block Party will help build a new education center in Lake Union Park for The Center for Wooden Boats (CWB). The Center for Wooden Boats is a local non-profit museum dedicated to providing a gathering place where Seattle’s maritime history comes alive and is passed along to future generations via direct experience.
Come to The Center for Wooden Boats for a hands-on maritime experience where you take the lines and oars to take their fleet of historic wooden sail and rowboats out on Lake Union. CWB’s boats in Seattle and on Camano Island are available for rent year-round. CWB also offers classes in sailing and other maritime skills for adults and youth. As South Lake Union grows, demand for CWB services is growing and the new education center will help CWB to meet that growing need.
